A destination wedding in Rajasthan is usually held in Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur or Jaisalmer. Udaipur centres on lakes, Jaipur on a large historic city, Jodhpur on fort and courtyard settings, and Jaisalmer on desert and tented stays. Winter, roughly November to February, is the common season. Gātha plans Rajasthan weddings from Pune with video reviews and on-ground teams.
The four cities side by side
Each city gives a destination wedding in Rajasthan a different character, and the differences are practical as well as visual. The table is a first filter. Each city has its own page with the detail.
| City | Mood | Best months | Guest travel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Udaipur | Lakes, hills and palace-style stays | Winter | Air and road; guests often spread across several properties |
| Jaipur | Historic city, forts and large formal receptions | Winter | The easiest to reach of the four; many hotels in one city |
| Jodhpur | Fort, stone courtyards and dry light | Winter | Airport and rail; most functions can stay on one or two sites |
| Jaisalmer | Golden fort town and desert camps | Winter | The longest journey; fewer flights, so plan rest time |
All four peak in the cooler months, so dates close early. Gātha advises six to twelve months of lead time, and in peak season a year ahead is often needed.
What to decide first
Resist choosing a venue before you have settled these, in this order.
- Guest count and who is travelling. A list of eighty and a list of four hundred do not belong in the same city.
- The season. Rajasthan is hot from about April to June, and the monsoon runs roughly from July to September. Most families therefore look at winter, and winter is the busiest.
- How guests get there. Jaipur is the simplest to reach. Jaisalmer asks the most of guests. Where many arrive from Pune, Mumbai or abroad, count the connections before you fall for a setting.
- The kind of setting. Lake, city palace, fort courtyard or desert camp each need different décor, different permissions from the venue and a different guest stay.
Move to a shortlist of venues only after those four are fixed. The cost page, Rajasthan destination wedding cost, explains how the same choices move the total.

Some families want a lake ceremony in one city and a fort reception in another. It can be done, and it has a price in time. Moving a full guest list between Rajasthan cities takes a day, needs a second set of rooms, and usually means a second team of decorators and caterers. It also asks guests to pack twice. For lists of a hundred or so, it can feel like part of the journey. For several hundred, most families are better off choosing one city and varying the venue types inside it: a palace for the ceremony, a garden for the sangeet, a courtyard for dinner.
Planning across Rajasthan from Pune
Gātha is a boutique wedding atelier in Pune. For a Rajasthan celebration it works through video walkthroughs, digital drawings and planning dashboards, then places an on-ground team at the destination. The same team can plan more than one Rajasthan city if a family wants a ceremony in one and a reception in another. That is a plan, not a record of past work.
The planning fee begins at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh and rises with the overall investment. Gātha does not offer venue booking on its own and does not take weddings under Rs 30 lakh in total. For how a planner works across the state, see the page on a Rajasthan wedding planner,. To start, send your dates and scale through the application page on the site.
