A destination wedding in Gujarat usually means a desert camp in the Rann of Kutch, a coastal property or a heritage setting, planned for the cooler winter months. Settle the guest list, vegetarian or Jain menus and the state's alcohol rules before choosing a venue. Gātha plans such weddings for Gujarati and NRI families, working from Pune with video reviews and on-ground teams.
Choosing a destination wedding Gujarat families will travel to
A destination wedding Gujarat families attend is a wedding held away from the home city, with guests who travel and stay for the function days. For a family in Ahmedabad, Surat or Vadodara that can mean a few hours by road. For relatives abroad it means a flight and a transfer. Gātha plans weddings for families in all these places and for NRI families marrying in Gujarat, working from Pune, Maharashtra.
Gujarat offers three broad kinds of setting. Which one suits depends on the guest list, the season and the kind of evening the family wants. The sections below take them in turn, then the rules that apply to all of them.
Three kinds of setting
The Rann of Kutch
The Rann is a salt desert in the west of the state. A wedding here is usually built from tents, temporary structures and a purpose-made site rather than a ready banquet hall. That gives the planning team a blank canvas and a long list of logistics: power, water, kitchens, toilets, shade, a place to park and a way to move guests in and out. It is a setting for families who want something remote and who accept that everything must be brought in.
The coast
Gujarat has a long coastline, and coastal properties suit families who want a sea backdrop and open-air evenings. Wind, humidity and salt air affect lighting, fabric and flowers, and a coastal site needs the same attention to access roads and vendor equipment as any remote venue. For a beach-format wedding with a different set of rules, many families also look at a destination wedding in Goa.
Heritage and city settings
Older palaces, havelis and restored properties exist in Gujarat's cities. They offer architecture that needs little added décor, but each has its own limits on capacity, structures, music and hours. Whether a particular property hosts weddings, and for how many guests, is something to confirm with the property directly. Gātha does not publish a list of venues, and this page does not name any.

Begin your application →Season and heat
Gujarat is hot for much of the year, and it has a monsoon from about June to September. The cooler winter months are the usual window for destination weddings, and in desert settings the nights turn cold, so guests need to be told to pack for it. Summer weddings are possible indoors and in the evening, but outdoor daytime functions need serious shade, water and cooling, and a ceremony in midday heat is hard on elders and children.
Six to twelve months before the wedding is a sensible time to begin for a full wedding, and peak and destination dates are often closed a year ahead. Shorter timelines have been handled, and Gātha says honestly what is possible once it has your date.
Food and drink: decide early
Many Gujarati families serve a fully vegetarian menu, and some follow Jain food rules that exclude certain ingredients. Settle this before the venue is chosen, because it decides whether an outside caterer is needed, whether the kitchen can be kept separate, and how live counters are planned. Ask the family, rather than assuming, which functions need which rules, since a sangeet dinner and a ceremony lunch are not always planned the same way.
Gujarat is a dry state: alcohol is under prohibition. A cocktail evening, a bar or a mixology counter is therefore not something to assume. Before a menu, a bar design or a contract is fixed, ask the venue and the relevant authorities what is permitted for this venue and this guest list, and get the answer in writing. A family that wants a bar as part of the celebration should know the answer before choosing the state, not after.
Guest travel and stay
A destination wedding is only as comfortable as its guest logistics. For guests coming from Gujarat's cities, the questions are road transfers, vehicle timings and where each family stays. For relatives from abroad, add arrival coordination, a travel desk and clear information about the transfers on each day.
Gātha's hospitality work covers welcome hampers, check-in desks and room coordination, travel desks and a guest relations team. For a destination in Gujarat that means one point of contact for every guest question, a rooming list that matches the guest list, and a plan for the elders. The destination wedding planner page sets out the full scope of this work.
How Gātha plans a Gujarat destination wedding
The process follows the same four steps as every Gātha wedding: an application, a review against open dates, a call, and only then design and quote. For a destination, the team adds venue scouting and virtual walkthroughs, a digital planning dashboard with video reviews, and an on-ground team at the site. Families in Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara can review everything from home and visit the shortlisted sites with the team.
Gātha does not offer venue booking on its own and does not take weddings with a total budget under Rs 30 lakh. The planning fee starts at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh. Share your dates, guest count and investment on the application form.
