Wedding planner cost: what a planner charges and what the fee covers

Gātha publishes its planning fee in three tiers, set by the overall investment in the wedding. This page shows the tiers, what sits inside the fee and what stays in your own budget, and how to compare any planner's quote.

In short

Gātha's planning fee starts at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh, Rs 3,00,000 onwards for Rs 60 lakh to 1 crore, and Rs 5,00,000 onwards for Rs 1 crore and above. The fee covers design, planning and direction. Venue, décor and vendor costs sit inside the family's own budget and are shown transparently.

Wedding planner cost at Gātha: the published fee tiers

Wedding planner cost at Gātha depends on the overall investment in the wedding. The planning fee is tiered, and each tier has a starting figure.

Overall investment in the weddingPlanning fee
Rs 30 to 60 lakhRs 2,00,000 onwards
Rs 60 lakh to 1 croreRs 3,00,000 onwards
Rs 1 crore and aboveRs 5,00,000 onwards

Engagements, milestone birthdays and corporate events begin lower. Gātha takes on a limited number of weddings each year, and it does not take weddings with a total budget under Rs 30 lakh, which is why the first tier is also the floor.

What the planning fee covers

The fee pays for the team's work, and that work has three parts.

  • Design: the concept for the wedding, with moodboards, palettes and layouts that the family approves before anything is produced.
  • Planning: master timelines, ritual and ceremony coordination, vendor sourcing and management, and the logistics of the family and its guests.
  • Direction: running the days themselves, with the team holding the timeline from behind the scenes.

The fee does not include the venue, the décor itself or the vendors. Those costs sit inside the family's own budget, and Gātha shows them transparently. Think of the fee as payment for the team, and the rest of the budget as payment for the wedding.

How planners charge: flat fee, percentage and day rate

Planners in general use a few pricing models, and a quote should say which one applies. A flat fee is agreed in advance and does not move with the final spend, which makes it easy to compare. A percentage of the total budget grows as the wedding grows, so the planner's income rises with the spend, and that is worth asking about when the figure is large. A day rate or hourly rate is common for coordination alone. Some planners also earn a commission from vendors, either on top of a fee or in place of one, and a fair quote says so.

Gātha's fee sits between a flat fee and a percentage. It steps up with the overall investment, and each tier has a starting figure. How the final figure is set for a particular wedding is settled after the call, once the scope is clear. Venue and vendor costs are shown transparently inside your own budget.

Full planning, partial planning and day-of coordination

A planner can be hired for the whole wedding or for part of it, and the scope changes both the work and the quote. People searching for wedding coordinator cost are usually asking about the last row of the table.

ScopeWhat it isWho it suits
Full planningDesign, planning and running of everything from concept to the final farewellFamilies who want one team to hold the whole wedding
Partial planningAn expert shapes the vision and takes over the heavy lifting once a family has begunFamilies who have started and need direction and select vendors
Day-of coordinationA handover and briefing in the final weeks, vendor and timeline coordination, and command on the dayFamilies who have planned it all and want the day run properly

Gātha offers all three, and they are described on the services page. The tiers above are the published planning fee. Gātha does not publish separate prices for partial planning or day-of coordination, so say which you want on the application form and the quote follows the call.

Destination wedding planner cost and packages

Gātha publishes fee tiers, not packages with fixed inclusions. A destination wedding adds scope to the work: venue scouting and virtual walkthroughs, planning dashboards and video reviews, guest travel, stay and transport coordination, and an on-ground team at the destination. The costs of the destination itself, such as the venue and the vendors who travel, sit inside the family's budget. The destination wedding planner page explains how remote planning works and what to ask when choosing a planner for a wedding away from home.

How to read a planner's quote

A quote is easier to judge when every line answers a question. Put these to any planner, including Gātha.

  1. What is the fee for? Get the scope in writing: which functions, which services and which dates.
  2. What is excluded? Venue, décor and vendor costs are normally separate from a planning fee, so find out who pays them and how they are shown.
  3. Are vendor costs passed on as quoted, or does anything get added? Does the planner earn a commission from vendors?
  4. What is the payment schedule, and what happens to it if the date changes?
  5. Who will be your point of contact, and who will be on site on the day?
  6. Are the quotes you are comparing for the same scope, guest count and dates? A lower figure for a smaller scope is not a lower cost.

Is a planner worth it at your budget?

A planner earns the fee by taking decisions and coordination off the family. The value is greatest when the wedding has many functions, many vendors, travelling guests or a short timeline. For a wedding with a total budget under Rs 30 lakh, Gātha is not the right fit, because it does not take weddings at that level. A smaller wedding may be better served by a day-of coordinator or by one organised relative who holds the timeline. Gātha also does not offer courses or jobs for planners, and it does not decorate wedding cars.

How to ask for a quote

Quotes follow a short process. The family applies on the application form, sharing dates, scale and the investment in mind. The team reads the enquiry, checks it against the dates still open and replies within two working days. If there is a fit, a call follows so the team can understand the family and the family can judge Gātha. Design and the quote begin only after that call.

Questions people ask

No single figure fits, because the guest count, the number of nights, the destination and the season change the total more than anything else. Gātha does not publish typical venue or vendor costs, so it cannot give a number to plan around. Start from the guest count and nights, ask each venue for a written quote, and share your overall investment on the application so the right fee tier is clear.
That depends on the guest count, the functions and the city, so it is not a yes or no. It is below the range Gātha works in, because Gātha takes weddings with a total budget from Rs 30 lakh. At a smaller scale, a shorter guest list, fewer functions and a home-city venue are the usual ways to keep the plan realistic.
The total depends on the venue, the number of functions, the menu, the scale of the décor and the season, and Gātha does not publish typical totals. A guest list of 300 does change the work: more rooms if guests travel, more transport and a larger catering plan. Ask for quotes at the same guest count and dates so they can be compared.
At Gātha the planning fee starts at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh. It is Rs 3,00,000 onwards for Rs 60 lakh to 1 crore, and Rs 5,00,000 onwards for Rs 1 crore and above. Engagements, milestone birthdays and corporate events begin lower.
No. The fee covers design, planning and direction. Venue, décor and vendor costs sit inside the family's own budget, and Gātha shows them transparently so the family can see where the money goes.
The fee is tiered by the overall investment in the wedding, with a starting figure for each tier. How the final figure is set for a particular wedding is discussed after the call, once the scope is clear. Ask any planner which pricing model they use before you compare quotes.
Yes, day-of coordination is one of the three ways to work with Gātha. It starts with a handover and briefing in the final weeks, followed by vendor and timeline coordination and command on the day. Gātha does not publish a separate price for it, so say so on the application and the quote follows the call.
