Gātha is a boutique wedding planner in Pune, Maharashtra, that plans weddings for families in Surat, Vadodara and other Gujarat cities. Reviews run by video and digital drawings, site visits are scheduled in person, and an on-ground team works at the venue. The planning fee starts at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh.
Choosing a wedding planner Surat and Vadodara families can brief from a distance
A wedding planner Surat families hire does not have to sit in Surat, but the working method has to make distance irrelevant. Gātha is based in Pune, Maharashtra, and plans weddings for families in Surat, Vadodara and elsewhere in south and central Gujarat. Families in Rajkot and other Gujarat cities ask the same question, and the method does not change with the city. It takes a limited number of weddings each year, and it says plainly that it is a planner working from another city.
This page explains how that works, what the family decides, and where the limits are. It does not claim to be a local office, and it does not list weddings. If you want to compare, ask any planner you are considering how their method handles distance and who is on site on the day.
How planning works at a distance
The method has four parts, and each exists to replace something that would otherwise need a face-to-face meeting.
- The application. The family shares dates, scale and the investment in mind on the application form.
- The call. If there is a fit, the team speaks with the family to understand them, and the family judges the team in return.
- Design and review. Moodboards, palettes and 3D layouts are shared digitally. Video reviews and a digital planning dashboard keep everything visible to the whole family, including relatives who live elsewhere.
- Site visits and the on-ground team. The Gātha team travels to visit the shortlisted venues with the family. On the days of the wedding, an on-ground team runs the celebration.
The same method is used for destination and NRI weddings, so a family in Surat or Vadodara gets the same tools as one abroad. The destination wedding planner page describes the scope in more detail.

Begin your application →Multi-function weddings and long guest lists
Gujarati weddings often involve several functions over a number of days, though which ones depend on the family and the community. Gātha does not assume a format. It asks which functions are planned, who attends each, and which rituals govern the timing, then builds a master timeline around the answers. Sangeet, mehendi and pre-wedding functions are planned as part of the same schedule as the ceremony, not as separate jobs.
Large guest lists make the timeline harder. A guest list of a few hundred moving between a hotel, a function space and a dinner venue needs a transport plan, a rooming list and a team at the doors. Planning these early is what makes the day feel calm.
Guests who travel, and weddings away from home
Families often have relatives spread across Gujarat and abroad, so guest travel is part of the plan from the first call. Gātha's hospitality work covers welcome hampers, check-in desks, room coordination and travel desks, with a guest relations team to answer questions. Arrivals are mapped by the day, and transport is planned around the schedule of the functions.
Some families marry in their home city and others choose a destination. For a destination, the destination wedding Gujarat page covers settings, season, food rules and alcohol rules within the state. For a family in Ahmedabad, the same method applies.
Surat and Vadodara: what is the same and what to ask
Gātha treats the two cities together as south and central Gujarat, because the method is the same. What differs is local: the venues, the vendors available, the way a hall can be dressed and the hours it is let. Gātha does not publish a list of venues or vendors for either city and does not claim a track record there. Instead, the team asks the family and the venues, and sends an on-ground team to check on the spot.
For any venue you visit, ask the same questions: capacity for each function, music and finishing-time limits, whether outside vendors are allowed, how vehicles reach the entrance, what happens in rain, and what the quoted price includes. Ask for the answers in writing, and ask them again after the design is approved.
What the family decides, and when
Distance works when decisions are made in order. A family working with Gātha is asked to settle the following, roughly in this sequence.
- The date range, and how fixed it is, since auspicious dates can limit the choice.
- The city or destination, and whether the wedding is at home or away.
- The functions, the guest count and the number of guests who need rooms.
- The dietary rules for each function, such as vegetarian or Jain menus.
- The design direction, reviewed on moodboards and 3D layouts, and approved before production.
- Who in the family has the final word, so that reviews end in a decision rather than a discussion.
The last point matters most at a distance. When three branches of a family review a layout by video, one named person confirming the changes saves a week of messages.
Timeline: is three months enough?
Six to twelve months is ideal for a full wedding, and peak-season and destination dates are often closed a year ahead. Three months is short, and what is possible depends on the date, the venue and the guest count. Gātha has handled shorter timelines, and it will say honestly if a given date is workable once you apply.
If time is short, decide four things first: the date, the city, the guest count and the investment. Everything else follows. A planner who tells you immediately that anything is possible, before looking at your date, is guessing.
Fees and fit
Gātha's planning fee is tiered by the overall investment in the wedding: Rs 2,00,000 onwards for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh, Rs 3,00,000 onwards for Rs 60 lakh to 1 crore, and Rs 5,00,000 onwards for Rs 1 crore and above. It covers design, planning and direction. Venue, décor and vendor costs sit inside the family's own budget and are shown transparently. The wedding planner cost page explains how to read a planner's quote.
There are limits. Gātha does not take weddings with a total budget under Rs 30 lakh, does not offer venue booking on its own, and does not decorate wedding cars. If your wedding fits, begin with the application form. The team reads every enquiry personally and replies within two working days.
