A destination wedding in Mysore, Coorg, Ooty, Pondicherry, Hampi or the Andamans is planned place by place, because each has a different gateway airport, season and venue format. Mysore suits heritage-led weddings, Coorg and Ooty suit small hill gatherings, Pondicherry suits a coastal town wedding, Hampi suits ruins and rock scenery, and the Andamans suit island weddings.
Destination wedding in Mysore and five other south Indian places
A destination wedding in Mysore belongs to a group of south Indian places that are not Kerala and are not close to Pune. Gātha plans these as separate projects. There is no shared package, since the gateway airport, the road in, the season and the type of venue change from one place to the next. Kerala has its own page: see destination wedding in Kerala.
The table below is a first filter, not a recommendation. It tells you what each place tends to suit and what to check first. Flight schedules change, so confirm current routes before fixing dates.
How the six places compare
| Place | Suits | Usual way in from Pune | Season note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mysore | Heritage-led weddings, palace-city setting | Fly to Bengaluru or Mysuru and drive, or take a train | Cooler months are the easy choice |
| Coorg | Small gatherings in coffee country | Fly to Bengaluru, Mysuru or Mangaluru, then a long hill road | Heavy rain in the monsoon months |
| Ooty | Cool-weather hill weddings | Fly to Coimbatore, then climb by road | Cold evenings in winter |
| Pondicherry | Coastal town and promenade weddings | Fly to Chennai, then drive | Main rain falls about October to December |
| Hampi | Ruins and boulder landscape, small guest lists | Fly to north Karnataka or rail to Hosapete, then road | Very hot in the summer months |
| Andamans | Island weddings for guests happy to travel | Fly to the mainland gateway, then on to Port Blair | Dry season roughly December to April |

Begin your application →Mysore, Coorg and Ooty: the road-led places
Mysore is a city with palaces and a long heritage of ceremony, so it works for families who want the setting to carry the occasion. Because it is a city, guest stays and transport are easier than in the hills. Coorg and Ooty are the opposite: smaller, cooler and scenic, with a road journey that decides how guests feel when they arrive.
For both hill places the questions are the same. How large a vehicle can reach the venue? How many rooms are on site? What is the plan for cold evenings and for rain? Coorg's monsoon is heavy, and Ooty nights get cold in winter. Neither suits a very large guest list, and a family inviting several hundred should say so early.
Pondicherry, Hampi and the Andamans: the character places
Pondicherry gives a coastal town with a French-era quarter and a seafront, and weddings there are usually boutique stays and promenade evenings. Ask each property about noise limits and the hour music must end. Hampi is a World Heritage site of ruins and boulders. Ask early which spaces may host an event and what is not allowed, and confirm with the venue.
The Andamans are the most demanding: you reach them by air or sea, inter-island travel depends on weather, and the guest list should be committed to the journey. Bad weather can delay ferries, so build slack into the schedule. These places reward a small list of guests who want to travel; they are a poor fit for a wedding with many elders who need easy movement.
How Gātha plans these places from Pune
Gātha is a boutique wedding planner and atelier in Pune, Maharashtra. It has no published record of weddings in these six places, so this page describes how a Pune team plans, not what it has done. For a south Indian date the team shortlists venues through video walkthroughs and site visits, checks the route guests will take, sets a weather plan, and builds the guest travel and stay schedule. The method matches the one on the destination wedding planner page and the how to plan a destination wedding guide.
Gātha does not offer venue booking on its own and does not plan weddings with a total investment under Rs 30 lakh. The planning fee starts at Rs 2,00,000 for weddings of Rs 30 to 60 lakh. It takes on a limited number of weddings each year, so the date matters. Apply through the application form with your dates, guest count and the investment you have in mind.
